This painting was recreated in 2026 from a drawing of mine in 2012. For me, it represents my childhood and the feeling of being completely lost in the world around me, unsure of where I belonged.
Growing up surrounded by chaos meant learning to be responsible and becoming an adult far too quickly. I often felt unseen, unheard and too small to carry what life was asking of me. I was expected to just get on with it… which I did.
I’m grateful now for many of the lesson’s life has given me, but gratitude doesn’t mean overlooking the child who had to learn them too soon. She still deserves light, a voice, and reassurance.
A reminder that being lost never meant she didn’t belong.
Painted in early 2026, Subtle Light came from a time when I felt more like myself than I had in a long while.
I still didn’t know exactly where I was going or what would come next, but for once, that uncertainty didn’t feel frightening. I wasn’t searching for answers. I was simply okay being where I was.
For me, this piece holds a different kind of clarity, the kind that slowly appears when you stop trying to force the next step. Allowing that inner light to be seen and heard… so peaceful.
The right kind of light isn’t loud. It’s subtle enough to remind you that you’re already here.
Created in 2022 while travelling through the Kimberley in Western Australia, ‘Hidden Away for Another Day’ began with nothing more than paper and pencils.
When I finished it, I scrunched it into a ball, ready to throw it away. For reasons I couldn’t really explain, I kept it.
Years later, I found it again, but this time, I chose to frame her!
That small decision changed the way I saw the piece. It made me wonder how often we hide, dismiss or discard parts of ourselves simply because we can’t yet see their value.
Sometimes all it takes is a different perspective to make room for a different understanding.
Perhaps what we hide away isn’t meant to be thrown out at all. Maybe it’s simply waiting for another day.
Painted in early 2025, Lost Within came from a time when I felt very unsettled. So much around me felt out of control, I was trying to find meaning in a place that no longer felt aligned with who I was becoming.
The hardest part was realising that, in many ways, I had led myself there.
For me, this piece holds that strange space of becoming lost within your own thoughts, questioning your choices, your identity, and where you’re meant to go next.
Being lost isn’t always sign that somethings wrong!
Sometimes getting lost is the beginning of finding your way home!
Painted later in 2025, Finding Stillness came from a time when things within me were beginning to soften. I was learning to sit with the parts of myself I had ignored, judged, or simply didn’t yet know how to love.
This painting began with a particular person in mind, but somewhere along the way, our stories seemed to blur together. Was I painting her energy, or mine? Or perhaps something that existed between us?
Even now, I’m still unsure.
The overall feeling I get from this piece is a reminder that we don’t have to separate ourselves into light and dark, good and bad, worthy and unworthy.
